Who doesn't love a village square? Even better, how about a high mountain village square with a view? Rather than a typical energy-consuming mountaintop lodge, we've decided to keep it simple and inviting; quaint courtyards done right are some of the most welcoming places on earth. Roosted at the peak of one of the ridges, a charming little village is coming with all of the necessities anyone can need, just wait and see. Of course it'll feature an overlook for a fantastic view of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The Cottages

Each unique, cozy and luxurious, the cottages are inspired by the owners' shared experience and imagination and these drafts don't even begin to touch the creativity behind the many designs planned. Just be patient:-) Self-designed and built by local craftsmen, each cottage will offer a fantastic adventure. Whether it's the trimmed accents that make a Swiss home immediately Swiss, the flower boxes that scream out English garden, the craftsman styled bungalows that bring warm comfort, the stone work that makes a mountain cottage extra special or the mountain sensibilities that shout out southern appalachia, what makes these cottages special as stand-alones and cohesive is the secret each traveler will have to learn in person.
The Amenities
Avoiding the same habits of mainstream tourism, the pool is the least important of all of this mountain's offerings. Yes, there will be a pool but we'll circle back to that later:-)
By a long shot, Running Rock's most valuable resource is the outdoors. With more than 3 miles of trails, it'll require moving those feet to see what we love most.
