What is Running Rock EcoPark?

Whether hiking a new trail, cooling one's feet below a crystal clear waterfall, or basking in the sun high on the mountaintop, Running Rock is the best of the Smokies.

Running Rock Eco Park and Resort is nestled on 260 acres in the Great Smoky Mountains just outside of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This park is a protected, biodiverse, nature-first sanctuary where nearly 100% of the land lives wild in green space.

Running Rock is a regional leader in conservation and education.  Drawing from their family's many generations of love for the Smokies, the Comstocks have focused on sharing this gift from God -- a creation worth protecting. From the temperate rainforest along our 2 miles of streams and ~80 ft Hellbender Cascades to the mature hardwood and conifer forest along the ridges, Running Rock is determined to make the most of this exceptional example of biodiversity, the best of the Southern Appalachians.

It's our vision to help connect visitors with peaceful, captivating experiences that promote joy, stewardship, compassion for wildlife, and a unique, family-friendly wilderness retreat.

Best of all, it's just a couple miles from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The Comstocks and the Running Rock team are trying to preserve this one-of-a-kind property for generations to come.

Biodiversity and Conservation Projects

At Running Rock, the forest and the outdoors is our #1 resource. Conservation, education, and sustainability are at the very core of who we are and how we think.  We want to share what we are learning with you. It's easy. Ask how you can be part of the team of volunteers who help us make it better.
